SWICH ad campaign

There's been a lot of pressure lately to open up protected areas for oil drilling.

Of course, that pressure is fueled by stampeding lobbyists and oil companies who benefit the most from America's addiction to oil. What's their solution to our oil addiction? More oil!

Common sense says drilling in protected areas is not the answer. Switching is.

Switching to 100% clean, renewable electricity within 10 years.

Click here for a sneak peak at our latest television ad that will start airing Monday during the Olympics. It shows Americans how we will make the switch to clean, renewable energy sources.

Switching now to clean energy sources will revitalize our economy -- we can be global leaders in developing and manufacturing clean energy technologies. It will enhance our national security -- reducing the pressure on our troops to protect oil supplies and avoiding the worst climate impacts in politically unstable regions of the world. It will make high gasoline prices less of a burden in our daily lives -- enabling us to transition to clean plug-in hybrid electric cars. It will help solve the climate crisis -- if we fail to act soon, the consequences for our children will be dire.

Green Obama

So it would seem, Barak is already acting presidential, and his energy plan has both short and longterm goals. And .. due to the web, it's all documented for future review, making what was said, a matter of record in the hands of the public.

Cool. I'm good with that. When the rubber hits the road, we all know who said what about that gasprice. take a look.

How about a total tax credit for Electric, hybrid and fuelcell cars. Green car = ZERO TAX.

Pickens has a plan

or perhaps more accurately, a plan to make an army of followers to push forward a mass movement in the web social arena. Seeing is believing...

Of great interest to me is his passion and interest in windpower.

quoted: http://www.pickensplan.com/theplan
"
The United States is the Saudi Arabia of wind power.

Studies from around the world show that the Great Plains states are home to the greatest wind energy potential in the world — by far.

The Department of Energy reports that 20% of America's electricity can come from wind. North Dakota alone has the potential to provide power for more than a quarter of the country.

Today's wind turbines stand up to 410 feet tall, with blades that stretch 148 feet in length. The blades collect the wind's kinetic energy. In one year, a 3-megawatt wind turbine produces as much energy as 12,000 barrels of imported oil.

Wind power currently accounts for 48 billion kWh of electricity a year in the United States — enough to serve more than 4.5 million households. That is still only about 1% of current demand, but the potential of wind is much greater.

A 2005 Stanford University study found that there is enough wind power worldwide to satisfy global demand 7 times over — even if only 20% of wind power could be captured.

Building wind facilities in the corridor that stretches from the Texas panhandle to North Dakota could produce 20% of the electricity for the United States at a cost of $1 trillion. It would take another $200 billion to build the capacity to transmit that energy to cities and towns.

That's a lot of money, but it's a one-time cost. And compared to the $700 billion we spend on foreign oil every year, it's a bargain.
"
BTW if you dont know it already, T Boone Pickens is a multi Billionaire Texas Oilman

A Million Trees

Think about it, 1,000,000 trees. Assuming each tree starts off as a small one, with maybe 200 leaves, thats 200 million leaves taking in a dose of C02 and growing to well over several billion... OMG. huge. And it is all destined to happen in one place.. Los Angeles. Very cool and this gets our CTN coolgreentastic award for sure.

Neal Gray caught up with someone who is working with that, Neasha Monigan:

Coastal Classic Creations

Coastal Classic Creations would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves on CTN Green after having been contacted by Robin Rudoy. Robin found our website through Green People, an organization with whom we have linked hands in an effort to continue our mission to provide a diverse combination of eco-friendly, cruelty-free, vegan, and organic home and body care products.

Robin was so personable and easy to speak with that we found an immediate connection, and we instantly decided that supporting CTN Green through the mechanism of blogging was a way that we could connect with people who may not otherwise find us.

To give you a bit of background into our company, we are a husband-and-wife owned business located approximately 20 miles south of San Francisco on the coast. We started our company in 2001 with goat's milk soap, and in these last seven years have added organic cosmetics, pet care products, fashionable eco-green tote bags, body butters, and much more.

All of our products are cruelty-free, biodegradable, and ph-balanced. They are free from irradiation, organophosphate residues, alcohol, detergents, fragrance oils, phthalates, parabens, propylene glycol, FD&C colorants, cocamide DEA, animal fats, sodium lauryl sulfate, urea, petroleum, lanolin, titanium dioxide, lead, formaldehyde, and Germall II, a preservative whose chemical composition is Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, and Propylene Glycol, to name a few.

Our company believes in full ingredient disclosure, and we hold our suppliers to the same standards.

We sell product, not packaging. We use recyclable jars and biodegradable packaging products in an effort to eliminate the strain of excess waste on our environment. We are fair trade.

Please visit our website http://www.coastalclassiccreations.com/ for more information, and contact us. We would love to hear from you.

ECOASIS

New Segment underway at CTN, but for this one we decided to hookup some social networking and open it to public interaction. This is a global thing, you can be anyone anywhere on the planet.

ok .... so what is ECOasis ?

Essentially an OASIS is a small eco-system in the desert that manages to survive out in the middle of nowhere, all by itself, usually based on a spring water source. An ECOASIS is the name we cobbled up to call a place you can can build (not that you live in a desert but we are guessing you dont allocate much room to eco-green yet either), and progressively grow your ecozone of an oasis as you incorporate more of the renewable, recyclable and sustainable action into your style and life.

WHY?

Making a big green-centric impact on your life or abode is too daunting for most, best that you do what you can, learn what you should and take it a step at a time. We suggest an Ecologically sensible little green OASIS within your own home or apartment,, something like a recycle/garden corner perhaps to start , a small space and place to get your green-side happening.

Its all good.

My ecoasis is at the moment a small palm tree planter with a recepticle in the side for holding bottles for recycle. I want to make more of that starting point and plan to document that effort as it takes over the room it is in, get suggestions and do them. In this way you can literally decide to have me do stuff and then see it on screen and in video. We just added storage there for re-usable shopping bags ( 5 big ones and 2 insulated "cooler" bags ) thanks to one suggestion we got a moment ago.

YOU CAN HAVE AN ECOASIS TOO... or maybe you already do stuff like that and dont have a name for it.... all the better.

For the moment we will just take comments into this blog, but tomorrow we will have a youtube channel and gallery so you can paricipate if you like, and see what others have made.

These things have a public rating system in a way, so the most ( even a few votes is good ) voted on will get a CTN GREEN ECOASIS t-shirt and maybe a few gifts in a CTN GREEN goodie bag. Its more important however that you do this for yourself, you know its time to progress forward, we just want to help with some trinkets and incentive.

Big Green Magazine

This is a pic of our wide and full screen magazine, with embedded video and interaction. Its in Beta Preview at the moment - very much in the look-see stage for a launch very soon. we invite you to take a look ( ideal for the 1680 x 1050 wide screen user who is so under-served these days )
http://www.ctngreen.com/mag

please do post a comment on that and let us know your thoughts.

Green Concept Urbanite travelpods

We Are not real sure about this one but it is rather unique... has a kid-like robot interface.

The Nissan Pivo is a concept car by Nissan and is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The car is essentially a 360 degree rotating cabin on a chassis of 4 wheels, and hence eliminates the need for reversing and makes parking easier. The car's futuristic design incorporates large doors for easy access to the cabin and large windscreens and windows for high visibility. The pivoting wheels allow it to go sideways and automates parallel parking - no worries, no problems.

CTN T's

For the Green in you...

we have T's for 10 bucks ( at cost actually ). Good Deal for a nice totally organic made-in-america thing. It supports the CTN Green Carbon-Neutral Offset program we are starting, so each item in our store gets a 1/2lb of CO2 into offset. Its a start.

Bay City - SecondLife

We sort of appropriated a location in SecondLife ( http://www.secondlife.com/ ) that was available and now you can visit there if so inclined. It is a Green Structure with Solar powering, and variable window tinting. There is a small theater and lounge.
its loaction Link is:
